Hello CSP members,
First of all, I’m using the new address, so if someone would let me know that this is being received by CSP members, that would be great! There was some confusion when I sent thisout last night. I don’t think it went to everyone...
The New Museum of Los Gatos (NUMU) would like to feature CSP artists in their educational programming. They seek CSP members for two different opportunities in conjunction with Thinking Outside the Frame , the upcoming CSP exhibition at NUMU.
Opportunity # 1 WORKSHOPS : During the exhibition (May 18- September 30, 2018), NUMU has a program called Artist Led Workshops (ALW) that gives artist instructors the opportunity to conduct one and two day workshops, in the NUMU Studio. These workshops will be open to the public with artist instructors receiving up to 40-60% of the tuition cost. CSP members wishing to teach a workshop must complete and submit the electronic application online. The application form and submission guidelines can be accessed at http://www.numulosgatos.org/
alw-application . All submissions forms will be received and reviewed by NUMU’s Programs Coordinator Brie Pena. Please note that as a CSP member, you may submit a somewhat abbreviated application. Fill out the pertinent information, but note “CSP Member” in lieu of some of the more detailed questions. NUMU does not have a press in The Studio. If you have a portable press, please consider teaching a workshop! If you can teach techniques that do not require a press, that is also welcomed. If you have any questions regarding ALW please email Brie at bpena@numulosgatos.org .
Opportunity #2 DEMOS : Additionally, NUMU will install a basic printmaking studio environment in the Spotlight Gallery during the run of the show. The community will be invited to learn about the various methods of printmaking in this space. There will be didactic panels that explain the traditional technical processes of printmaking, a table top press, tools of the trade that facilitate printmaking techniques, and more.
Also within the Spotlight Gallery , NUMU will be offering public printmaking demos that will take place throughout the course of the exhibit. Each demo will be approximately one hour in length to demonstrate printmaking processes. Prints created by CSP members at the demos will be displayed in the space. Although the demonstration artists will not receive monetary compensation, this is a great opportunity to promote printmaking, CSP and individual members as artists and teachers. Resumes and contact information of demo artists can be made available to the public during the demonstrations. NUMU will promote the artist’s demo on the website, email blast and social media. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Marianne McGrath at mkmcgrathma@gmail.com
This promises to be an exciting and unusual show, at a great new museum in the South Bay. Let’s show off our terrific organization and have fun doing it!
