The Vallejo idea is worth considering.  My letterpress printing friend
Joel Benson is in the process of moving Dependable Letterpress there from
SF. The idea of purchasing a place is even a possibility, with mortgages
less than rents in the city. Another artist friend of mine made the move
there from Hunters Point many years ago and was happy to buy a
home/studio.
