> Longtime CSP member, MajBritt Hilstrom, died peacefully on May 11, having suffered a stroke in late November, 2023.

> MajBritt was an artist on many levels. She was a marble sculptor who managed to move heavy pieces of stone with professional ease, and produce elegant and sophisticated abstract works. She was a consummate watercolorist always able to respond to beauty wherever she saw it. As a printmaker, she produced a large body of monotypes and etchings, both traditional and solarplate, many of which found their way into private and corporate collections. MajBritt (pronounced My-Britt and sometimes written as Mai-Britt) was admitted to CSP in 2009 where she become known for her prints on wood of koi.

> Over 40 years ago she created the small printmaking collective, BlueBay Press, situated in her home studio, and housing a large Sturgess etching press. Early on, it consisted of 8 and sometimes more, members; by the onset of the pandemic it consisted of 4 stalwart printers, of which I was one.

> MajBritt also occasionally worked in metal, producing stunning adornments. Whatever she produced was proudly influenced by her Swedish heritage. And as a fashion icon, MajBritt always added a touch of glamour to any CSP gathering.
